The days are getting warmer
The sun is out brighter
And April showers and poems
Bring May tulips and poetry readings

Join us in concluding April's National Poetry Month with the start of some great programs at the library this coming May.  On Friday, May 2 at 6:30 p.m. come join us at the Coronado Museum for the Annual Coffeehouse.  Meet the judges, share your poems with us, and listen to the works of masters!  Bring a poem you have written or one you love.  It should be a great night.

On Thursday, May 8 at 7:00 p.m. the library continues the Book and Movie Series with a book discussion of Jon Krakauer's "Into the Wild" depicting the story of Christopher McCandless' trek through the United States and his journey from an idealistic college graduate to his last days in Alaska.

We'll have the movie night on Thursday, May 22 at 6:30 p.m. May's Library and Lunch is a mystery!  Join us in discussing Janet Evanovich's "One for the Money" on Tuesday, May 13 at noon.  It's the first appearance of bounty hunter Stephanie Plum.  I'll admit it was my first dose of an Evanovich novel and now I've been drawn into the series.  What shenanigans will Grandma Mazur get into next?  That lady is a hoot!      We usually start a few minutes past.  Don't be afraid to join us late!!

Copies of both "Into the Wild" and "One for the Money" can be picked up at the front desk.  Someone will run back and grab one from the stack!

On Wednesday, May 14 we will be having another A Very Beginners Computer class in Spanish at 9:30 a.m. for those who speak minimal or no English and wish to learn the basics of computer use.

We will also be having classes in English on Wednesday, May 21 at 9:30 a.m. and Thursday, May 22 at 9:30 a.m.

Each class is limited to four people.  So pick your date, call the library, and reserve a spot.  Don't miss out on the fun.  It has been getting pretty rowdy during the classes lately.  All three will start off with the basics of logging into a computer, how to use a mouse, create an email account, and create and send email.  Bring your questions!!

Gaming for Teens will take place on Tuesday, May 20 from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.  Stop by and try out Guitar Hero and dance your shoes off on Dance Dance Revolution.

In the last two weeks the library has had over a hundred new items come in and be cataloged (by yours truly). Also the Bookmobile stopped by with a new batch of novels and items (almost four hundred!) this past Tuesday. Come in and check out some of these great titles:
"All the sad young literary men" by Keith Gessen
"Armageddon in retrospect, and other new and unpublished writings on war and peace" by Kurt Vonnegut
"The candy bombers: the untold story of the Berlin Airlift and America's finest hour" by Andrei Cherny
"Common wealth: economics for a crowded planet" by Jeffrey D. Sachs
"Girls like us: Carole King, Joni Mitchell, and Carly Simon-- and the journey of a generation" by Sheila Weller
"Go green, live rich: 50 simple ways to save the earth and get rich trying" by David Bach and Hillary Rosner

New CDs have hit the shelves including soundtracks from "Across the Universe" and "Juno", Bruce Springsteen's "Magic", Counting Crows' "Saturday Nights and Sunday Mornings", and Alan Jackson's "Good Time" among others.

For those who love to listen to their stories, the newest CD books include:
"Certain girls" by Jennifer Weiner and read by Rachel Botchan and Jule Dretzin
"The miracle at Speedy Motors" by Alexander McCall Smith and read by Lisette Lecat
"Sins of the assassin" by Robert Ferrigno
"Unaccustomed earth" by Jhumpa Lahiri

If there is any form of programming that you would like to see at the library let us know by stopping by or calling. I look forward to seeing many of you out and about this month as the weather gets more gorgeous...  hopefully at the library!
