Liberal Memorial Library Presents:
2013 Summer Reading Program
Registration and Reading
Program Dates: May 28th - June 29th
How the Program Works
Step 1: Set a goal (to get a free t-shirt, you must read at least 10 hours during the program).
Step 2: Sign up at the library between May 20th and May 25th.
Step 3: Read. (You can read comics, books, magazines - anything that you want).
Step 4: Bring back your signed form with the total number of hours read by 1 p.m. on June 29th.
Step 5: If you've met your goal AND read at least 10 hours, collect your t-shirt at the library any time after August 2nd. Better yet, join us on August 2nd for our ice cream party at 2:00 and pick up your shirt then.
Dig into Reading is open to all children from birth to those entering 6th grade. Teens and tweens entering the 7th - 12th grade can sign up for the "Beneath the Surface" program.
Questions? Call (620) 626-0180 x4 and ask for Casandra.
Summer Reading Story Time Schedule
May 27 - June 29, 2013
Remember: All programming is free of charge and open to all children (even if you don't have a library card). Unless noted, no registration is needed for any programs.
Come learn about worms and help to make a home for the worms that will be the mascots of our program.
Come explore the world of dirt! The Soil Tunnel Trailer will be parked outside of the library for children and adults to learn about what is beneath our feet.
Get up close with heavy machinery that may have built the road that you drove on to get to the library. Want to know how it works? J & R Sand knows the answer!
Science can be cool. Become a part of the experiments with Mad Science!
Kids grades 3 and up are going to dig into trouble by learning how to juggle. Kids in grades 3-6 can learn the basics of juggling. Don't worry, it's easier than you think.
Join us at the library for ice cream and the chance to pick up your summer reading t-shirts.
- Friday, May 31 at 2:00: Could you eat 10 worms? Join us for the movie based on Thomas Rockwell's book How to eat Fried Worms.
- Friday, June 7 at 2:00: Roy's life turns around and his friends go on an adventure to save a burrowing owl. Based on the book by Carl Hiaasen.
- Friday, June 14 at 2:00: What happens if you are a garden gnome and fall in love with a garden gnome from a different yard? Come see what happens in this work based on the classic Romeo and Juliet.
Join the High Reader's Club: Read over 35 hours during the 5-week program to join the High Reader's Club. Club members will have a special party at the end of the summer!
