| Text: [article] Working the early rodeo "I thoroughly enjoyed Willard Porter's "Shooting the Rodeo" (April 1989 TRUE WEST) ... An acquaintence of mine, Rusty Morse, of Arvada, Colorado, wrote in the Denver Post's Empire Magazine, August 6, 1978, that Doubleday was buried in an unmarked grave at Council Bluffs, Iowa, in his sister's plot. His casket, Morse wrote, bore a ten-gallon hat, the gift of his friend, movie star Tom Mix. - Harry E. Chrisman, 10245 W. 14th Avenue, Denver, Colorado, 80215. [caption under pictures] Harry Chrisman's photo collection includes R.R. Doubleday's photo of Bonnie Grey on King Tut at left. Though Doubleday photographed the Scottsbluff, Nebraska, rodeo in 1922, the only photos of that event that Chrisman has found so far were taken by C.F. Smith, such as the one of Phil Yoder at right. | ||||
